Boat Barometer/Thermometer
The Connected at Sea Boat Barometer/Thermometer can be mounted in a remote location and wired into any NMEA 0183 network or multiplexer running at 38400 baud. Alternatively, an optional NMEA to USB adapter allows the unit to be connected to a laptop for use in a navigation program such as OpenCPN or qtVlm. Simply attach the NMEA A and B wires directly to the corresponding equipment and a standard 12 volt DC power source.
The NMEA 0183 talker sends XDR, MDA and MTA sentences in a 4 second rotation.
Example NMEA0183 sentences:
XDR - Pressure (hPa) - $WIXDR,P,1.00053,B,BAROMETER*3E
MDA - Pressure (hPa) - $WIMDA,,,1.00401,B,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,*12
MTA - Air Temperature (°C) - $WIMTA,19.40,C*27
XDR - Air Temperature ( °C) - $YXXDR,C,26.80,C,AirTemp*1B
These high precision digital sensors have typical atmospheric pressure accuracy of ±1.0 mBar and relative accuracy of ±0.12 mBar. Operational range between 300 - 1100 mBar.
The air temperature sensor has a typical accuracy of ±0.5°C at 25°C and operational range between -40 to 85°C. Calibration of the sensor is performed from METAR data.
The case dimensions are approximately 92mm x 56mm x 20mm.
