Wireless GPS Puck
Get a GPS signal anywhere on your boat with the Connected at Sea Wireless GPS Puck. This device receives satellite GPS data and then transmits the data in NMEA 0183 format over Wi-Fi for use on multiple devices at the same time (computers, smartphones or tablets).
The set-up is fast and easy in OpenCPN's and qtVlm's free marine navigation software. No fiddling with web pages or browser settings as the device creates its own Wi-Fi hotspot and supports UDP protocol with a single entry. No drivers to install.
The Wireless GPS Puck can be powered from any USB power source. With its low power draw, a small USB power bank will run the device for many hours.
Weatherproof and compact, this unit makes an excellent primary or emergency GPS device to get you out of trouble.
The GPS receiver can track up to 22 satellites on 50 channels and comes with a proprietary built-in ground plane antenna for superior satellite reception. The module also contains a battery backup that maintains data for up to two weeks without power allowing a time to first fix (TTFF) of 1 second.
The GPS data is updated every second for information including: Latitude, longitude, UTC time, date, speed over ground, satellites in view and altitude above mean sea in the following NMEA 0183 sentences:
RMC - Recommended Minimum Navigation Information
GGA - Global Positioning System Fix Data
GSV - Satellites in View
GSA - GPS DOP and Active Satellites
GLL - Geographic Postition - Latitude/Longitude
VTG - Track Made Good and Ground Speed
The GPS Transceiver V.3 housing is made from durable fiberglass/gelcoat and is approximately 9 cm x 4.5 cm in dimension.
The device has also been tested in applications from OpenCPN (Android), Imray Boat Instruments (Apple iOS) and Navionics (Android and Apple iOS).
